My first st1300. 2010. At 18,000 miles with original Bridgestone 023 tires. Ready for tires. But their not bad at all. And even wear on both. 46 yrs of different bikes and I never experienced this. Miles nor the rear wear same as front. Is this bowling ball rubber ? Whatever it is iam gettn same tires again. Just woundering if my case was rare. Iam the only owner of this bike

I will never see that kind of mileage. My right hand does not no how behave. I'm happy if I get 10K out of a rear.

Since my bike was new, I've had similar mileage out of all of the tires on my 1100 too, regardless of brand, but I've been stuck on Metzelers for quite a few of those 19 years. I think riding habits play the biggest role in tire wear, as alluded to by Keith. If you are like me, you don't often accelerate overly briskly from an intersection, like, you don't feel like yours arms are about to come off (slight exaggeration), and you don't wait until the last minute to slow down/brake for lawful stops. You ride the curves fairly aggressively, enough of the time, to wear the tires fairly evenly too. If you are like me, you check your tire pressures before every day's ride.

Wow you must be very easy on the throttle of that bike, I tried a BT023 and ate the rear tire in 4000 miles, 7000 out of the second one trying to get miles out of it.

Great, I thought I was the only one getting 18,000 miles out of a Bridgestone BT 023 GT rear.
Not sure if I'm going to see that kind of mileage on my next set, but hoping it will be close.
I'm finding that the outside temperature and the asphalt temperature plays a big role in wear.
Just did a 4000 mile trip to Vegas and back and the temperature in places were in the nineties.
Thinking this set due to these higher temperatures will affect my mileage.
8,000 miles on this set and the rear looks about 50% worn.

Maybe the ST is tempting you to a more smooth and balanced pace; some are heavier on the throttle, some heavier on the brakes, resulting in quicker wear on the front or rear...

Great imput from all. Thanks. Your probley all right. I check my tire pressure It's a cool northwest bike. I kinda just putt around compared to my younger days. But I do like twisties. Funny part of the whole story is that at 800 miles I got a nail in rear tire. And if corse dealer would only put on a new tire. So I jamed a plug in it. And to my supprise the tire made it to the end of the bell. 110 pass is fastest this tire has been tho
Thanks to all. Nice people on this site

Was it a 023 or a 023GT? The GTs are designed to handle the extra weight, where the non-GT isn't. Your results sound similar to what happens when you put a non-F BT020 on an ST.

It was the 023 before they had the GT but it was rated for the ST on their website.

I always tease folks who's wear pattern indicates that their don't lean their bike much, that their using only 60~70% of the avail thread surface, thus only getting 60~70% of the average mileage out them rubbers ;-)

I never thought about that but it makes perfect sense.
