I dug my camelbak out of the closet that I purchased several years ago. I never used it until now and when I fill it up the water has the taste of plastic to it. I couldn't find anything in the forum Search about removing the taste.

What is a solution to freshening the water taste?

TIA!

I use Milton, don't know if you guys have it, but it is for sterilising baby feeding bottles!

I always soak it overnight in a solution then rinse thoroughly before using.....

Also, after you clean it and when you fill it with water to drink, try adding a little lemon juice.

Learned years ago from serious bicycle riders....they used mouthwash after each ride. It's a disinfectant that can keep things from growing, you can get it anywhere and taste is not bad. Rinse out and let hang to dry. Different flavors. Won't harm the bladder.

Thanks for all the ideas and fixes.

From the "Why didn't I think of that?" department Smash's suggestion to wash it out with soapy water worked and I'll try the others if the taste returns after use.

Rinse and store it in the freezer when done. I've been doing this for years and it keeps anything from growing in it.
