Special Tooling required for rear spring change?

Hello All,

I am researching what it will take to replace the rear spring on my ST1300. I have the factory manual which shows the R&R of the shock assembly, but no specifics on how to replace the spring. Is there a how to on the forum somewhere? Other than standard hand tools, are any special tools required?

You have to be able to compress the spring to get it off the shock.
I don't know of a home garage setup that'll let you do the job... I'd think a big press would be needed...

This tool will do the job, but the hook part that goes through the top eyelet of the shock has to be ground down to fit. I've changed several spring after I ground it down with no issues.
