:(:(:( Well the K1600GTL is dead. A 10"rock @ 20 mph and the front end exploded. Nothing left under the handle bars. YES this was an OUCH!!!!

SO Time to resurrect the 1100 (Would never sell it) for WeSTOC. It has been Parked since 2004 as I road the 1300 and K1600 . I did not think it would have been that long but time marches on. It had lots of OIL and WD40 but left it completely full of gas with Stabilizer and lifted off the ground. Bits and pieces have been lent out so now to replace them. Helibars were found on EBAY, crazylarry had a Audiovox still making my mind up about which heated grips to get, New Givi or old backrest??. Purchased Z6 tires to try them out, as the old ones are probably roughen. So now comes all new fluids. Timing belt, rear wheel bearings and pumpkin rebuild this winter. Here's hoping not to much lacquer from the old gas. (any hints?)

Wish me luck

That sounds both frighteningly painful and also expensive....

I hope you are okay and that the stains will wash out......;)

Pictures?

Wow, Bruce.
Glad you're ok.
And that you've got the 1100.
Was good seeing you on the Beamer at Drumheller.
Two bikes from that day that are gone now.

See you at WeSTOC.
Bruce

Glad to hear you came through okay. Bummer about the Beemer.
Good on you for keeping the 1100 around. I have one to get going again too. One of these days.

Well that just stinks Bruce, I am glad that you are OK and Mike came over and gave you a ride home. Dave probably knocked that rock loose on you. I hope you get the ST up and running soon.

Youch. Drain that crappy gas out and refill it half way with fresh fuel. Add a half can of Seafoam and run it long enough to circulate it through the system. Let her sit a day to let that Seafoam work, and then ride it. Hope for the best.
Good to hear you're alright!

4 years is too long. Gonna bet you'll need to pull the carbs and clean the jets. Not that tuff but figure an all day job for the first time. Sounds like a few other items need attention too.

Might be time for another new bike. :D

Well George, I did put Stabilizer in the gas and drained the carbs so I am hopeful. Make it run is the target for the weekend. I heard that sea foam is Naphtha and very light oil but I am not feeling adventurous just yet.

I'd get that old fuel out of there and start fresh. You can dilute it into another vehicle.

Hate to hear that, Bruce. Great that you weren't hurt. Do we get the "rest of the story", or did I miss that in another thread?

Dang, Bruce! Sorry to read this. Hope you weren't hurt...

Looking forward to hearing you've got the ST1100 you rode to the Arctic Circle with me back in '01 back up and running. My '91 is still running STrong since all those hard miles on the Dempster Hwy.

See you at Fortuna, my friend!

John [juST back from a week in Canada on Lac La Croix. The Beaver float plane ride in was great! 66 take-offs in one... my first landing in one last week, 44 years after the firST ride!]
