Final Drive filler plug size? ST1100 '94

Thought i Stripped the final drive filler nut with a 17mm 12pt socket;bought a 17mm 6pt socket it seemed to big. Bought 16mm 6pt socket seems too small. Thanks.

It's 17mm, Mark. This is not a high torque item and should come loose easily. You might use an adjustable (aka: crescent) wrench to reduce the chance of rounding the 6-pt corners of an overtightened filler cap.

My 6pt 17mm feels a bit loose as well, but that's the size. There's only 9 ft-lb torque on that fastener, so it shouldn't be a big deal as long as you don't overtighten it.

How easy was it to get out? I have just sheared mine?
