Took my 2004 ST1300 in for a rear tire change this morning. Instead of the OEM / 020 I ordered, they installed a Battleax S20, which is a "new product". Rather than wait for another tire, I have agreed to try it out, but I have not been pleased with the earlier 021 or 023 series with dual compound, so will be interested to see how this one works.

Anyone out there had one of these on for any length of time? And, if so, any comments? Thanks.

It does sound more like a sport bike tire. It would interesting to know what kind of mileage you get out of it.

Sport bike tire. Let us know how it lasts.

The T30 is perhaps a better choice for the ST.

I just put the T30's oon my bike and did a short 60 mile run they handle very well seem like a lighter feel than the PR's and they don't seem to be affected by tar snakes.

Thanks folks - appreciate the comments and leads. The tire seems solid enough but it will have to be good to match the good old OEM BT020. I'll let you know how it wears and performs on the 1300.

Yeah, the S20's are new products... two and a half years ago. ;)

They're a canyon/ B- group trackday tire for sport bikes. They generally last 4000- 5000 miles on 600's, and I've been through six or seven sets on my RC51, where they last a grand total of about 3000 miles, give or take. They are absolutely phenomenal, game- changing tires, but they are NOT an ST tire and your ST1300 will chew through them in short order. My ST1300 weighs about 210 lbs. less than yours, and less than 400 miles on the set of S20's I put on it, I can already see they're taking a pounding. Based on how I've seen them wear on my RC and others bikes, and how they're eroding on my ST1300, I'd say if you got yours to go 1500- 1750 miles, I'd be impressed. The upside is that you now have a tire that you will NEVER have to worry about stepping out on you. Performance- wise, they'll blow the 020 out of the water, but wear- wise, they'll barely make it half way through an oil change. Or however long you stretch out your oil change interval.

Next time around, try out the T30's. A friend has them on her SV650, and I'm impressed with them. They're blurring the line between ST tires and sport tires, for sure. I'd feel safe putting them on a sport bike and dragging knee on the track, they're that good. Plus, I hear they last longer than the BT023's. When my S20's are done, I'll be throwing a set of T30's on the bike.

Gentlemen

Thanks again for your inputs. Rather than be a test pilot for this tire on the ST 1300, the Service Manager agreed to exchange to S20 for the OEM BT020, as ordered. Today they did the swap for me at no cost. Really appreciate good service when you get it!!

Yup - had the same experience on the road with a flat a number of years back. The new tire turned out to be an old "U" series which got me home but didn't last worth#$%^&. I check them all now to ensure they are "F" series. thanks.

I am using S20 for rear, center gone faster than expected, seem can't handle the weight of ST1300, Not recommend for Touring Bike
