Wheel noise when riding and leaning to either side

I need a little confirmation from you guys...when I am riding and going straight (sitting up straight), everything feels great and smooth. But, when I lean to either side, I start to hear humming. When I sit the bike back up, it is gone.

Is that a wheel bearing? The wheels run smoothly, but I still hear the hum when I am riding.

What do you think? What else should I look for?

Your comments/questions/advice would be appreciated.

Normal, typically it happens after a couple thousand miles on your tires... the are cupping and that's what you hear, every tire I've ever had cups at some point as it wears. Keep an eye on your tire pressure to avoid it happening sooner but no way to avoid it that I'm aware of.

+1....

Can be reduced by ensuring correct pressures are maintained..... I have also found Dynabeads to help reduce it too.. but it is always there to some extent, however small.

Best cure once doing the others is to wear better earplugs.

Thank gaud. I was worried. I just replaced the fuel filter and fluids. I don't a bigger bill now.

Mind you, I'll do what ever it takes, I love this bike! :bow1:

I've found that tires with long sections of rubber between the grooves cup earlier than more broken up tread patterns.
Michelins were the worst for this on both my ST13 and Hayabusa. Right now I have Dunlop RoadSmart II's on my ST (pattern isn't much better) and trying Shinko Raven 009's on the Hayabusa. I have to try the Shinko's on the ST, I don't care for the handling on the Hayabusa. The rear tire has a flat profile and when leaning I can feel the edge of it, and at speed where the contact patch is critical the uncertain feeling is amplified, but the tread pattern is made of smaller blocks.

What brand of tires are you running? The Michelin PR2 tires were the worst off center while riding would hum like a bad wheel bearing.

I use something that has made my tires silent for years. Ear buds and good tunes. :) It does sound weird when I don't have them in tho. Enjoy the ride, you are good.

Thanks everybody. I feel like a load has lifted. I am going on a 1000km and this is the last thing I need to worry about.

Now I am just looking forward to the RIDE!!!!
