Been looking for an ST1300 for some time now. Found one with 64k miles for $6000. KBB Trade in is $5700 and retail is $8250 with average mileage of 28k miles. They are willing to give me $5500 trade in on my 2003 HD Low Rider.

Seems these bikes can go well over 100k miles if well treated. So looking for thoughts from ST owners.

Is 64k too many miles. Anything I should be concerned about? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

My twin has a 2006 he commutes on daily. It has 193,000 and sound exactly like my 2004 with 44,000. Nothing to worry about as long as the maintenance was kept up! :)

Enjoy!

64,000 miles is about the time the rings start to get seated and the ST starts to really purr. I have over 124,000 on my ST with no major problems and it is ready to go more at anytime. If you like the bike and it feels right go for it.

64 isn't a ton.
Might check the free play of the final drive.
Slop in the pre load adjuster. (easy fix but they won't know that) ;)
Spin the rear wheel in neutral and listen to Joe's u-joint thread for a possible failing u-joint indicator. Rare problem.
If you take it for a test and aren't braking hard check the rear rotor when your done. Too hot to touch and you might have a sticky SMC. Rare but happens. Simple part swap.
If you're otherwise ready to sign paper, have em pull the rear wheel and you check the drive splines and feel for notchy bearings while you're there. If it was greased instead of paste or the o-rings failed it might have some wear on the splines.

I just traded in my 07 ST1300 with 10,000 miles on it. Like new.

If the 08 is clean, well maintained, and has ABS, your Low Rider + $500 sounds like a deal too good to pass up.

Mmmm.....I have an '06 w/46,700 miles. Pristine. Was asking $6500 here on the Board. No calls. Retracted it 2 weeks ago after a 2 month post.

milage is not the issue, the bike is rather significantly over-built and 100,000+ miles w/o drama is not unusual. The driver should be condition, maintance records and farkles. ABS+good maintance records+ a few handy farkles & I'd say you are doing well.

Thanks for the input - here is a little more info on the bike - No ABS, No Farkles (all stock except Honda Cruise Control). Have asked for maintenance records - they are checking.

Check roanoke.craigslist.org, there is a very nice 2007 ST1300 ABS with 14,500 miles for $7,800 and lots of extras. There are also two non-ABS units shown in the Greensboro area. Good luck!

Same thought. Yours sounds like a good deal. I thought mine was. I had my '07 ST1300ABS with 64,000 miles on this board last Fall and this Summer until the post expired for $4800 and no interest at all, except for some guy trying to get it for 3. I'm keeping it for $3k. After second thinking it I will not take $5k for it now. Going to keep the ol' gal. Love the bike but it's hard to sell.

What kills me is.....a '02 Goldwing.....with 92K on it was listed for $9900 dollars.......AND SOLD! ST's are hard to unload unless you shove'em down to dirt prices. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy ya know. I've decided to keep mine til I croak. I'm 59 years old...... :)

We were in dire need of some cash last Fall to make our property taxes, which was the reason to sell the ST in the first place. We made our tax bill somehow and my company put me on some major OT since last Nov., so I can keep the bike. Don't have anytime at all to ride it, but that ain't the bikes fault. :)
I'm a youngster compared to you. i'm only 53. LOL.

Thanks for the all the advice. Picked it up today. No cash exchanged. Straight trade. ST has a modified goldwing cruise control, a givi top case, fog lights, and it looks like everything else is stock. Rode the harley 90 miles to Belmont NC to do the deal and took the ST home via back roads. Wow. So fun to ride. Turns are so easy and so much power. Also love the slight lean forward. Although hands were a little tingly when I got home.
