Last year I purchased a new Olympia Phantom Suit on sale for a great price. This is a great

piece of riding gear as I can ride down into the 30 degree range without electric heat. With

vents open its tolerable up to about 75 degrees and good wet weather protection. The only issue

I have is with the Hi Viz and it's only a personal taste issue. This is the most Hi Viz garment

I have ever seen. The newer models are toned down a bit so far as they have less Hi Viz area and

more dark panels. I decided to try to tone my suit down by painting it. I bought 2 cans of

Dupli-Color Auto fabric paint from the local auto parts store and after and hour of masking with

duck tape and prepping my garage I did the deed.(Painters tape wont stick to the cordura). I

painted from the waist down to roughly match the waistline from the already black back seat

panel. Got a little bleed at the tape edges thru the fabric and the painted material is pretty

stiff tight now but I think it will loosen up with time. Over all I'm satisfied. Here is a pic

of the final result for anyone interested.

Interesting idea. I might have to try that for the front of my Olympia Airglide to cut the glare off the dash and GPS. Let us know how well it wears.

I have used this product on vinyl car upholstery before and it wore well. Never tried it on cordura till now. The cordura really soaked up the paint. Took 2 cans an i was basically only covering the front of the legs. After the first can it was spotty and green looking.

Yes it looks good from a distance, you can clearly see the edge bleed in the photo. If I ride fast enough no one will notice.

That's a great way to 'look at it' or not let anyone look too closely at it! :D :D Great artistic work, I must try this on my Blue Olympia AST 3 Jacket.

Not sure I would recommend this to anyone at least for cordura or similar textile. Doesn't penetrate the fibers so where it rubs or flexes the color comes off exposing the original color in a mottled pattern. While it still tones down the HI_VIZ i think most of the riders on this forum would not like the quality.

Reminds me of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer painted over the yellow lines to make wider lanes. That one ended badly....lol.

Great analogy:D. Think I could write a sit-com around it?

I would like to do the opposite. I have a Joe Rocket mesh jacket that's all black with no reflective material. I like the jacket and it fits well, but I wish it had some reflective or hi-viz sections.

I thought about spray paint or adhesive reflective material, but I don't know how they would hold up on fabric or mesh. Anybody try this?

Get one of these. Cheaper, quicker and reversable.
