While doing a random google search, I came across a long distance certifying group called the Long Distance Riders. (ironically the name of this sub forum) Their website can be found at www.longdistanceriders.net They only certify 4 separate rides, 500 miles in 12 hours gets you an "easy rider" certification, 1000 in 24 gets you a "Full Throttle" Certification, 1500 in 36 gets a "King of the Road" Cert and finally, coast to coast in 48 gets you "Born to be Wild" certification. The point of contact is a guy in Florida who has one certified IBA ride from 2006 (a FL-1000). Anybody ever heard of these guys? Looks like they have a few hundred members.

Somebody on the IBA site informed me that this group has been around since 2007 so I guess I'm the bearer of old news.
