Found a fair amount of rust around the filler area.
Probably from dew/condensate, had superficial rust on the flange for the fuel pump. Holding a rag below the area I sanded it a little and applied some ACF-50 on the metal; new gasket, fuel pump flange is fully sealed again.

You are talking about the filler neck, right Martin? How well does the ACF-50 stand up to washing off by the petrol?
No, the flange for the fuel pump below the saddle.
Fuel won't contact the ACF-50 treatment, as it on the outside of the tank, the flared lip underneath the fuel pump "bulkhead".
The insides of my ST's tanks are clean as new...

OK - your post #21 above, in reply to another poster, seemed to be speaking of the filler neck. Thanks for the clarification.

p/n 37810-MN5-008 from a GL1200 or,
p/n 37810-MB4-008 from a Magna V65

***UPDATE***
Back together and tested all good.
Replaced sensor with P/N 37810-MN5-008 Bolt on replacement no mods needed.
Tried to line the tank with Caswells which worked fine, but because of the size and shape of the tank I couldn't be sure if I got everything.
Found a clean tank on EBAY for $50.delivered.
