On the cover of the December edition of Rider Magazine is what looks like a BatBike. What the heck is Honda thinking?

W/O researching it again, I believe it is nothing more than an NC700 w/bat-mobile bodywork. Flat ugly, IMO and does make a body wonder about the thought process at Honda's R&D department.

It's just that it looks......so W-I-D-E. I wouldn't mind seeing "it" in person.

How many threads do we need on the NM4?
You didn't seem to care where several NC700 threads cropped up. It's a Honda motorcycle so like it or not, they are doing something... Personally, I'm not crazy about the bike..

Yeah, maybe you are right. All I saw was another beat down thread on the bike after the last one finally wound down.

From what I have read this is based on some anime' shows in Japan that are very popular. Honda said this is a bike they just wanted to build, for no other reason than it was fun. Should do well there. Don't expect it to do well here, but my local dealer sold the first one he got in very quickly which surprised me.

I was surprised to see one going down the road last week, I was on I-25 and it was on the frontage road so I got a few glances in. My first impressions were:
  • It is black, long, and low, having a dark, sinister, villian look.
  • It was difficult to see what shape it is--once the lines became apparent, it almost looked like a Halloween experiment.
  • The LED headlight worked well
  • The rider looked positioned on it much like riding a V-Rod (feet and arms stretched forward).

I sure wish they would have some fun with a new ST!
I saw one at a dealer. It looks just as bad in person to me.

There are some things I would like to see on an updated ST, but even if they did the updates it would be years before I'd be ready to buy a new one, because my 2006 is still doing a great job for me. I only have 50,000 miles on it and like the bike more every time I ride it. Updates would just be fluff, not something that would make me have to have a new one. I'd like less weight, a cruise control and a gear indicator, but even doing those on my wish list would not coerce me to buy another at this point, and any updates would surely raise the price on a bike that is already expensive. I would be real surprised if they added features and lowered the price.

A riding buddy just bought a new R1200RT with all the bells and whistles and the Beemer was over $26K. If a new ST was in that price range, no matter how much cool stuff was on it, I could never justify buying one.

I guess "beat down" threads are only fun when BMW is getting beat down :D Heaven forbid we pile upon one of the messianic Ma Honda's offerings. Blasphemy!

Huh? The NC, Rune, F6B, CTX13000.. you name it, they get beat down too.. simply because they aren't the real ST replacement. You Yammy guys take things so personally.

Oh yeah......I forgot about those. I owned an NC and actually really liked the F6B when I rode it so I can't dog pile those.

Just couldn't pass up an opportunity ;)

Well, if any of you have an interest in this bike, then I have good news for you...

You won't have to worry about me beating you to the dealership to buy it!
