i have an 08 st about 4000 miles , the clutch lever is not going back out the the fully released position , (i could push the lever out and it seemed to work correctly ) it is sticking , so much so was causing the clutch to slip if you rolled on the gas and put a lot of torque thru it , any one see this and is there an easy fix and or what is the fix if any is known . This bike is garage kept and never left out to get dirty etc. one other note it was a cold day 36 degrees.

Take the lever off. Then clean and lubricate all the moving parts. Pull off the rubber boot and see if the grease is gummed up then clean and lubricate. Check the brass bushing. It could be buggered up. (Clutch Lever Bushing 22885-MBO-006). If the hydraulic fluid hasn't been changed flush and bleed the system. A good bleeding generally solves most clutch problems.
