It is very impressive that there are so many ham radio owners amongst the ST fraternity. It is a great hobby and one I have always admired. There is a great deal of knowledge and science behind it.

The Solar Cycle is on the way up. DX is starting to pick up. Got a new Optibeam 12-4 up a couple of months ago, about 75 feet up. Anyone else chasing DX?

WØQNX in Pensacola. That's a nice looking tower and 40-10m beam Tor. I haven't been on HF in while myself. Only truck mobile on HF now days.

I did purchase a neat item that was delivered just yesterday. My Grandfather was the first and only other WØQNX. He was first licensed as W9QNX (1924?) before there was a tenth call district. When the 6 call district was created by the FCC Kansas was changed to the tenth call (Ø) district and his callsign was automatically was changed to WØQNX. I found a QSL card he sent out in 1939 and I bought it to have here at the "Hamshack".

I've got a small handheld for the apocalypse. I guess I need to learn how to use it and maybe even get a license!

Yep, absolutely possible. The antenna is the most important part of the equipment.

If you head north on 29, then into Molino,You'll see Stan's (KE5EE) superstation. One of the largest Amateur Radio station in the country. He's running a DX net on 7.163 in the morning, where we pull in stations from around the globe.
