With just one lead connected wouldn't it stay half charged?

Just kidding :)

I would check the battery in any case as that was a long time for the battery to be discharged, it could well have sulphated enough for the battery to be toast.

Glad you found the cheaper fix, Tony.

My Goldwing was on a tender, but one day it started fine with plenty of juice, then a few days later, nothing, nada, zip. Absolutely flat dead.

Today, I started the ST and the clock re-set after a slow start. It also happened at FloridaSToc. Time for a new batter in both bikes.

I charged the battery on the bench and put it back rode around and stopped and started several times. That was Wednesday I think. I'm home tomorrow and it's been off the tender so we'll see what happens. The battery was new last year

A friend riding an FJR had a dead battery on a recent ride and one of our fellow riders had a Lithium-Ion battery pack that allows you to jump start your bike in the middle of nowhere. I am wondering if anyone has used these to start their motorcycle or has a particular brand or model that they have heard works well with motorcycles? Seems like a handy item to have on long rides and first time I had seen one. Thought I would research them before adding it to my "just in case" I need it equipment.

My brother (KCMO Steve) has one of these. He has used it to start his Dodge Magnum when the battery would not even turn the motor over. Has many other functions for use other than jump starting your bike.

Popularity of the jump paks is growing. I saw one at Sam's the other day for $69 I think.

How do these charge? I assume they come with a plug-in wall charger. But can they charge from a 12v outlet on the bike? Charge while riding and then keep the cell phone or iPad charged at camp?

Most of the nes I have seen, yep. Charge from a wall wart or from the car.
