CBX Update.

No points - early Honda solid state ignition with pick-ups, ignitors and standard coils. Yes those are old Dunlop's on the rear - remember this bike has not run since 1992. Note that they are still holding air!

The engine should be back in the frame by the end of January. I'm thinking late March for the start-up.

That would look great with a thick round glass tabletop sitting over it! ;)

Great looking power plant.
The beauty of the black painted CBX/CB900F engines is the contrast the double walled exhaust pipes have against the engines.

The pipes never blued and there was no mistaking that big in-line power plant sitting there. One of the motor mags had an engine close up of a silver CB750F back in l979
when the double overhead cam engine first appeared. The visual of those pipes are engrained in my mind.

I put over 130K miles on my black (red/orange striping) 82 CB900F and to this day consider it the prettiest bike ever built. Its' CBX big brother is in the same league.

Nice find did you get it running the carbs are a pain but well worth it when you get it running. Tip when tilting the motor undo all cables place 2 boxes under tail pipes. Don't remove the pipes but loosen clamps at motor remove footrests and after removing motor mount bolts all except lower rear roll it down and remove carbs. If you are good you can do this in 15 minutes carbs on the bench. That's after you remove the tupperwear don't have that on my 79 at least until I added the fairing from a 81
