If that's your moms,, I'd like to see a pic of her daily driver car? What's it have? turbo jet? rocket motors? LOL

My standard cruising speed on the interstate has the tach staying between 4.5 & 5K rpm's. My theory is that I need to be in a hurry because I'm old and don't know how much time I have left!

Jeezalou what is that like 90 mph?

I drove my truck about 30 miles today, down to the mc shop and back, and passed 2 Ohio Highway Patrol, 2 County, Sheriffs, 1 Township cruiser, and 1 local village cruiser. I won't go more than speed limit +5 or might get nailed. I did get nailed for 30 in a 25 in another local village and when I protested, the guy told me that he would write 26 in a 25.

Back in Ferret's, and mine, old days, being able to "do the ton" was the measure of a good bike. The saying originates from Britain, where the rockers would get their Triumphs, BSA's, Nortons, and the like, out on the road to hit 100 MPH.

You weren't as cool if you never did the ton on your bike. Come on Ferret, get some cool and do the ton. You haven't lived if you've never seen 100 MPH on your speedo.

I have seen the ton and beyond..twice in fact..once in Montana on either 49 or 89? about 4 years ago with my wife when we were touring Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon and Wyoming.

Then again last summer in Utah on 80?, when a buddy and I rode out to California and back although I don't generally go that fast. Highest speed limit close to me is in northern Kentucky and it is 70, and like I said I usually ride speed limit plus 5, so 80 is about as fast as I will normally ride

but it's not about that, I just see no purpose (for me) to rev the snot out of my bike, just to get to that 80 a little bit quicker. I will get there eventually.

Conventional wisdom is revving the engine results in faster engine wear and shorter intervals between necessary valve adjustments and this is probably true but Honda designs and builds engines that last and last and last with service intervals to match even when ridden with spirit because that's what they are built to do.My bike is no stranger to the whip and has only had one valve drift out of spec in 150,000 miles. I adjusted 4 others but only to bring them from the minimum spec to other side spec.

I have no issue at all with people spurring their own horses

4,000 rpm is 70 mph on a darkside rear.

I theoretically regularly run over 4k on my morning commute for 45 minutes every day I go to the office.

If I am exploring and joyriding with laotaion lighting, 5k rpm is what you slow down with.

Checked on todays ride 4000 rpms is 75 indicated on my bike.

That's probably about right. I don't go 90 everywhere, it all depends on traffic flow, traffic density and location. But, I'm usually ready to roll when I hit the interstate.
