Alternator Drain ? ( under it's 'neath) ST1300-2

Not sure what you mean here there really isn't any routine maintenance on an alternator other than maybe cleaning it but it resides under the air box and you have to remove the throttlebodies to get to it.

Hi Steve,Apparently there is a water drain route/pipe underneath the 1300 alt that ensures that no accumulation of wash/ rainwater can affect it given that it sits in some sort of engine casing depression. Must be honest though, I am doubting it's existence.Thanks & will of course advise my findings.Ed.

Actually, the drain for any rainwater that gets in the vee below the throttle bodies is not a hose, but is a passage that drains out below the water pump on the right side of the engine. In the picture below, you can see the drain hole exit where the blue coolant is draining (due to coolant leaks underway at that time, into the vee where the alternator sits). The entrance to that drain hole is under the thermostat.
