I'm currently running a Bridgestone 20 on the back and Exedra on the front. I'm getting good mileage and good wear, but I feel like something could be better (for me).
I've liked Michelin tires on other scoots I've had and was wondering if anyone has run a Commander rear and a Pilot Activ front. They get good reviews from the cruiser crowds and are V rated in our sizes. Any help is appreciated.

I am running the Bridgestone T-30's on my 03 ST1100P and really like them. There was a rebate on them, don't know if it's still avail?

Hi! Im runing Michelin comander 2 on the rear.Excelent tire life.I have aprox. 20000km on the rear and the tire is still strong.Im actualy thincking to put the comander 2 on the front too.130/70/18 on my 97 abs 2.With the rear comander 2 you have to be carefully on the wet... its not like my pr3 gt as i have on the front, but the pr3 gt front is 13000km now and it is absolutly wasted. Not good enough for me in tire life...Best regards Sorin from Romania

Its a rear tire you want in size 130/70/18.
I will be replacing my rear T-30 after 6400 miles with a Michelin Commander. The front T-30 will not last much longer. Will the 130/70/18 Activ fit on the front of a non-ABS ST1100?

Well, I bit. I just bought an Activ front and Commander II rear for my ST1100. I still have a couple grand left on the Bridgestones that are on there (20 rear and Exedra front), and I like them, but .... they seem a bit blah! I've run Michelins on a couple different bikes and loved them there so hopefully this will be a good choice. I also hope to get a couple really long rides in this summer so ... maybe a decent report by summer's end. Of course plan A frequently changes to plan B and that might not happen :( All I can do is try.
$264 at Chaparral Motorsports for both - standard ST sizes and V rated - shipped :)

I'm running a BT-45 Sport Touring Rear on the front and a Michelin Commander II on the back in the standard ST sizes. The BT-45 is only H-rated for a 130 mph which is more than fast enough for me.

I've run this setup a couple times with good results, and it's what's currently on lipSTick. Works okay. Mileage is satisfactory.

I just installed a Michelin Activ rear in the 130/70/18 size on the front of STick, using the recently repaired 3.5" x 18" front wheel originally from lipSTick. Hasn't rolled an inch, tho. Tomorrow.

I have run a couple sets of the Activ and Commander II combo. I got around 15 thousand miles on the set. Changed before they got to the wear bar. Currently on my third set. I feel it is an excellent combination and works well in the wet too. I think it leans a bit more toward tour than sport, but they work a lot lot better than the Metzlers, Avons and Dunlops in my experience and opinion. YRMV.

I'm running the Commander II on the back and an Exedra G547 on the front of my '01 non-ABS ST11. The Activ on the front sounds intriguing though.

Just to verify, the 130/70/18 Activ fits OK on the front of the ST11?

The 130/70-18 works fine on the 3.5" ABS rim. Karen is the only one I know running it on the standard 3". Officially, the 3" rim is too narrow. Karen, what say you?

Still waiting for someone to try the Commander II 160/70/17 on a the rear of a 1300. Anyone? Bueller? If I had one, I would be running dark side so maybe not even worth the try.

I will be trying the Commander II 130/70/18 on the front after I wear out a Metzeler tire that I will put on next.

My ST1100 came with a Michelin Activ on the front and Commander II on the rear.

They were wearing like iron, but I never liked the front end feel of the Activ....and had a headshake at 40-45mph, which went completely away with a set of BT-023's.

This is the Pilot Activ I had on mine

If its not working, no one told me yet. I am a happy camper. I have the combo on both bikes and have about 14K miles in between the bikes since I switched to the combo.
I recall you said it was a ***** to mount. :)

I'm very happy with the 130/70-18 Activ rear on the 3.5" rim on the front of STick at 2000 miles. Hope the current Commander on the bike holds up for the duration of the current trip.

I just installed another Michelin Commander II on the rear of my ST1100. I got 20,218 miles off the Commander II I took off and it still had a little left. I also put a rear BT45 on the front. It replaced an Exedra that had 15,117 miles on it. We'll see how the rear BT45 works on the front. FWIW, I installed the BT45 in the reverse direction. I run 42psi in both front and rear, or as close as I can with the temp swings we get this time of year.

And now the tire is going the wrong way, what benefit would there be from running it the wrong way?
