I am trying to finish up an oil change here, but I cannot seem to get the ride side valve cover trim to come off to access the fill plug. Any suggestions?

It appears to be made of plastic, so I don't want to force it and break it. I'm trying to pull it straight up by inserting my fingers in the inset on the front and pulling up. No workie.

I am I missing something? Thanks!

Pull the back side up and slide it forward. It's a little tricky. The back side is held with a grommet.

Don't forget to lube that grommet and the slides with a little moly or other lube that won't degrade rubber. That way it will come off a little easier next time.

Silicone grease. A lot of conventional greases contain oil that will attack rubber.

Moly is for sliding surface and splines. Applied anywhere else it just migrates onto clothing and gloves. I would only use a dab of silicone grease on the valve cover mounting stud.
