11245419_10153205411661210_1259154182_n.jpgHello: In the throws of trying to remove the old alternator shaft from its assembly and cannot see how to get it apart from the internal larger piece that it is attached to. Sorry for the crappy terminology. I will try to find some pics and proper part names.

I have the shaft out of number 9 (base assembly), but cannot get it off the large part behind there.

I think it is a press fit if I remember, why do you need to get them apart?

,,,cannot see how to get it apart from the internal larger piece that it is attached to...
IIRC you can't...
The 28A shaft comes in one piece, that rotor is probably freeze-shrunk on there...

The 40A has a split set-up, with an internal drive (loc 2 in the lower fiche) connecting to the outer rotor shaft (loc 11).

If you plan a 40A upgrade you'll need both assemblies, the internal drive and that "outboard" alternator to it; there no reusable parts from the 28A...

If you're just in need of the splined area, cut the shaft, as it appears that it was never meant to be disassembled. I have an extra one of these if anyone wants one to experiment with.

If you'er doing a 40 amp upgrade, you will need to purchase part 2 on the lower fiche. The 28 amp part in pic 1 doesn't come apart.

Most excellent coverage of the 40 amp upgrade process at ST-RIDERS.NET (ya gotta join to view, IIRC)
