A little more power and a lot more weight than my KTM950SE. No thanks. I read they rate it as a 50/50 dirt/street mix. Looks more to me like 20/80. I consider pre 2008 KLR 650's and DR650's a 50/50 dirt bike.

I'm kind of surprised they kept the 21" front wheel for something as street oriented as this. The 21" front wheel is not as limiting as most think - I put Continental Trail Attacks on my 950 for a thousand miles of the twistiest roads I could find for a month or so, and the tires were not what held me back. That being said, I still think 19" offer a better selection of street oriented tires. However, if Honda truly designed this as a bike to head to the ends of the earth on, finding a 21" tire in BFE is easier IMHO.

A bike of compromises. Too much dirt ability compromised away for me. Now, where's an adventure bike based on Honda's 450 rally bike?

The US price is good....$12,999 for manual and $700 more for DCT. ABS standard on both models.

I'm surprised the price is that low--Honda must feel the competition for the Africa Twin is the BMW F800GS and Tiger 800 XC which are priced in the same area.

I think it is noteworthy they apparently learned not to bundle ABS with DCT like they do on the 700s. I wanted ABS on the NC700X I bought in 2012 but passed on it because IIRC was $1300 more and DCT was included. I would have paid more for ABS of course but did not want DCT at the time. Now I am more open minded to DCT and eagerly await rider reviews of this version.

The pics look like they might have a cruise control on the left side, could it be?
Doubt it, the SET probably has something to do with changing menu or other settings on the display.

Too bad. That's a dealbreaker for me. I'll never own another primary long distance bike w/o one ever again.

A lot of people wish they'd do the same with the ABS on the wing--delink it from the other options you have to buy to get it.

We conversed a few times on our NC Forum before I bought my DCT; I was waiting and waiting and waiting for the 750DCT; you were still on the X. If I'm correct, you now have a DCT.

I came across another link on the African Twin (AT) with a lot of nice pictures at the bottom of the page. Double clicking any of the images brings up a big close-up. I may pick up a DCT when they come out in the spring.
My cousin has a very clean KLR and would give him a good deal on my DCT. It went down when I hit loose glass bead reflectors in August, so has diminished value now, but he knows it was not hurt.
I think the NC is ugly, the AT is less ugly (to me), but is a very nice step up over the NC.

I picked up my Motus last month. Charly at Parabellum is forming up a bigger version of the OEM shield for it as I speak. I'll have quite a 2 bike stable with the AT, but hey, you only live once. :)

Yes, I remember. Now get some miles on it (or them). I recall the BMW was quite low miles for the year.

In the 4 years I had the F800 I averaged a little over 1000 miles a year; never got out of the city limits on it and it had a 28" clear shield, so really had no excuse. Well I did, but that's a different story.
But my get-off in August still has me a little rattled, along with my riding enjoyment, but if these 2 bikes don't bring it back, nothing will.

Did the state highway department admit anything concerning spilling glass beads on the roadway?

No. My attorney has folded, on a couple of issues. Motorcyclejustice.com may look into it, but govt isn't held accountable for anything. That's why we the people are getting ripped off so badly.
