Engine noise-- intermittent faint clack/knock below 2000 RPM

I posted for this noise a couple of years ago and it is still there 14K later but getting slightly louder and more obvious. It occurs when warm at an idle up to 2K RPM. It is random and intermittent and pulling in the clutch doesn't change the noise. The bike is a 2004 ST1300A has 21K on it and runs fine other then this unnerving noise. I'm taking it to Sturgis this year on a 3000+ trip and I don't want any problems along the way. Let me know if any of you have experienced this or have an idea a to what it is?
