My sat for about 12mths st1100 before i bought it, the front l/h(from seat) disc was cracked so I replaced it, when i went for a ride there was a loud buzzing(not grinding) noise, peds were watching, only went up to 15-20 mph
When i got home after less than 1/2 mile the front caliper(L/h) was very warm as was the disc, i stripped and rebuilt the caliper, seals ok with just a bit of corrosion behind them, cleaned and rebuilt with red rubber grease, pistons now slide in with finger pressure
went out again and the noise was absent for about a mile, then it returned a slighty less loudly, caliper off and i looked at the floating bit, the top mounts bearing is very corroded and needs replacing, the bottom mount is on the floaty bit and seems ok
The disc was s/h initaly I thought it was the pads not meeting the disc face fully i.e needing a few miles to wear in
I`m going to swap the disc for the one on my ntv650(same disc) which is fairly new and see from there
Any other ideas?
