Thinkin' seriously about going dark side. What do you guys do for balancing the tires - use the beads?
I have used the beads in the past and now have a static tire balance tool, the Goodrich tire on the two I have mounted are almost balanced with no weight on them so I have added nothing to balance them and they run smooth.

When I paid a shop to mohnt the tire they did spin balance with traditional weights. Now that I change them, it's beads. (Counteract preferred over Dyna)

Also using beads in my trailer tires, and will use them on my car at the nexr change.

Please do not read this as criticism but rather as a technical observation of tire wear.

I see that the center "grove" is more worn than the edges of the flat part. I see no side wall flex where the tire touches the road. It seems that you are running your air pressure "too" high (28-30??) causing the uneven wear. The only way to get wear on the outside corner of the tire is with a "hard" tire. Hard tires give the rider a better feel when riding twisties - I get it.

I am running the same tire at [oops] 24 psi cold at 65 F (just checked it) [I thought I was running 28] and my wear is more even at 14k miles. I have a little sidewall flex. Yes, that does take some getting use to especially when powering out of a corner. I do not scrape pegs going around corners like you do but I do push it and ride the "twisties" when I can. It will be another year + before I wear out this tire... (this lighting does not show the tire flex)

I have run this tire as low as 22 and now run it around here when empty 25 and up to 30 when loaded. I am not easy on my tires and I try to ride the old twisty roads as much as I can which causes my tires to wear the way they do, not the tire or pressure. But I am very happy with this tire wear as riding the same roads with a T-30GT Bridgestone tire I got 2500 miles out of it. :D

I understand the outside wear is due to to your harder riding in the corners. What I was confused about was the excessive center groove wear.
I do not get on the outside edge like you do with my more moderate riding style. So I will keep an eye on the center groove over the next 20k+ miles. ;) My previous CT I got very even wear across the tread.

I ran one very similar on my Valkyrie. It worked is all I remember.

I have a BFG (this threads tire) in my garage to mount soon.....

It fit but required the sandpaper treatment to the swing arm for complete clearance. This tire is wider than the Goodyear triple tred tire by about .040" is my guess. Ready to roll!

I suggest having Ride-On put in tires(front and rear). Most all bike shops carry it, and majority of bike shops recommend it instead of traditional weights. Can easily do it yourself.....purchase an 8oz. bottle, remove valve stem and squeeze in from the plastc bottle 40z. in each wheel, install valve stem and air tire up. Not only balances wheel/tire, but also eliminates a flat tire. Believe you can still Google the product for more info and video demonstration. Has worked fine for my bike for some 3yrs. now.
Ride-On ... good stuff. I've used it for about 6 or 7 years now. Glass smooth. No worries about a flat. Wipe clean.

Got the 205/50 R17 General Altimax RT43 today. Man! it looks HUGE! I layed it on the garage floor with a straight edge across it, it measures about 8-1/4" wide, on average. Hope it fits! Now to find someone to mount this beast on the rear wheel. (Fingers crossed)

Also got the BT45 for the front - going double dark side!

All this stuff came today with a 32oz bottle of the Ride On sealant/balancer.

Make sure you check the right side plastic in the fender well. I had to belt sand the side of the tire to stop that rubbing.
