Ebay Deal?

Starting bid $14,800?

Tough for me to swallow when I just saw a new 2014 Concourse for $10,599.

And a local dealer has had a new 2014 FJR listed for $10,999.

That's a dealer who's smoking something or has warehouse space to burn and is waiting for a sucker.

Anybody else notice the sequence number on that thing? 68.

Newby here needs to know what OTD is?

I discovered the Concourse in person, but the timing is not right for me yet. It was red in color as in lots of tickets red, but very pretty.

The new old stock ST1300 would be my preference once I can buy, but I would think $10,000 would be more inline. Really I am hoping for more like $7,000 and have come to welcome the idea of the right used bike.

OTD = 'out the door', meaning how much total is paid to buy the bike

a new Concours or FJR is a much better bike at that price point. Honda has made no effort to compete against those bikes and when they are placed side by side - the Honda looks very outdated.

There are deals out there on 2012 ST1300s! I'm picking up my new 2012 for $11,999! There was an add down here for one at $16K+.

That is an old wives tale that has been debunked many times. The red is gorgeous (to me).

Not all DEALS are for the lowest price. Maybe this guy is trying to see how high he can go and still find one of PT Barnum's 'suckers'.

I know someone here (Cleveland) who bought a house a month ago. They paid the asking price after looking at the house for a few hours. Nobody EVER makes their first offer the asking price in this town - the real estate market is not that hot. From what I know of the situation, there was no compelling reason not to come in with a lower offer first. So, maybe this dealer is hoping for the same parties to decide to buy a bike......

$16+K was the original MSRP for the last of the ST1300's I think. If I heard and understood another thread about this correctly, Honda has done some sort of dealer compensation program that lets them sell the last new-old-stock ST1300s at just under $12K list (excluding all the and-a's like taxes, title, licenses, etc.) without losing their shirts (apart from the fact that they have had capital tied up in inventory for four years now...)

+1 on the diagnosis that someone is fishing for a sucker at $14.8. That's a dealership I'd avoid at all hazards, and for all reasons. They make politicians look honest...

Maybe they were suckers as I was. When I was buying my first house in 2002 (came to America in 1997) I didn't know anything. My agent found me nice house and my wife and I really liked it. Of course I was thinking to "negotiate" the price, but my agent told me the owners are tough and strongly suggested me to buy it anyway. Many good features etc. I TRUSTED MY AGENT :banghead: (HE WAS RECOMMENDED FROM MY BROTHER-IN-LAW ) and bought the house. Later found the agent was friend with the seller.

I'm not sure a three year old ST is a deal at $11,999 when you can get a '15 FJR for that price.

I just saw a Connie 14 taken apart to check valves. For the extra $4k, I think I will buy an ST. Holy cow that is one royal PITA. Nice bike otherwise...

I've not had the pleasure of doing that to my connie yet, but the ST is no walk in the park either when it comes to a valve check. I am sure much like the ST that once you have done it once or twice that it gets easier as you know how to do it.

Why would I want an FJR? This will be my 5th ST1300, and have no desire to be riding anything else.
I'm buying this one do I can start fresh again like I did with my '05. Looks like I might keep the 2010 and use that for commuting. I'll be selling the '04 project bike to my youngest son soon.. Got to make room in my garage for the 2012.

This is no offense to you, buy I have to ask why? What makes you want to have multiple bikes of the exact same model? I can understand ones you have bought wrecked and fixed, but I've never understood wanting multiples of the exact same bike. I could see reason if one was really high mileage.

My goal is to have two bikes. One for commuting and the other for long distance. I bought the first '04 because my '05 at the time had about 130 to 140k on it and since I've never owned a bike with that kind of mileage, I couldn't trust it long distance. Then I picked up the 2010,and sold the '05 to one of my sons.
A year later the second '04 came along at a low price, and so I bought it with the idea of selling one of the '04s.
Now, the 2012s are starting to disappear, so I figured I'd buy one and sell two of the others.
My youngest son came by yesterday to replace a tire and oil change and we started talking about him buying the project bike, since I could sell it to him for what he could afford.
I'm not ready to sell the other '04 yet because I have some work to do on it, but once that is done, I'll be selling it as nd be back to two bikes again.

One other thing. For my commute, I need the same accessories as I need for long distance, plus, riding the same type bike allows me to not have to relearn the bikes over every time I swap them out.

Okay, I'll rephrase. A 2012 ST-1300 is no bargain even at $11,995.
