Maybe it failed because it wasn't lubed with moly paste, or wasn't lubed periodically at all, and/or the seal problem that you mentioned already. Either way, IMHO :wink: another example why owners should take responsibility for doing most of their own PM maintenance ( and save some $$$ in the process ). It's not difficult to remove the rear drive.From the Partzilla exploded view here (http://www.partzilla.com/parts/search/Honda/Motorcycle/2001/ST1100A+A/FINAL+DRIVEN+GEAR+(2)/parts.html), it's part #13 that failed and sheared the splines from the end of driveshaft on his ST.
