My 1991 ST1100 had some molding that ran around the unsupported edges of the windshield. Just polished it and I can see where molding had been installed. What was the color? Chrome, body color? Anyone with an old ST still have this molding still installed? I'm thinking rather than put it back to stock, it would be best to leave it off. Maybe a distraction while riding? Opinions, please.

Oldbikefixr - on both my 95 and 97 the molding was plastic/vinyl probably clear when new now yellowed. Give me a call, I'm on the RAN list and located here in Arlington if you want to see it. I have the molding if you need.

No question, leave it off. It was a silly idea in the first place...
Disagree- I always found that this piece did a great job of directing the rain water that travelled up the windshield off to the sides and ran it off the ends of this moulding rather than allowing it to blow off the top of the windshield and on to my visor.

Factory was clear bead. I use black plastic car door edging. It has an adhesive already in the groove. It's from Autozone.
All the snowmobiles I've had in the past had black windshield bead like this. It looks good and stays on.

...also not forget its role in the "guillotine-effect"...

The OEM edging was tensioned around the screen and its ends fixed with the metal clips... but the vinyl aged and slipped out...
