Asking for a friend ( FJR riding buddy) :

Complex question and jumping ahead.... will need out of the box thinking because written instructions did not solve the below issue :

I-phone paired to Sena 20s >>> phone/music work fine in bluetooth mode

introduce:
SM10: Sena dual stream bluetooth transmitter
Garmin Zumo 350L GPS
Passport 8500x50

When doing Bluetooth...

Can pair phone to Sena 20s (like before)....fine. can pair SM10 transmitter with GPS & radar to Sena 20s ....fine

BUT problem comes in when SM10 and I-phone are bluetoothed to Sena20s at same time, it drops the I-phone off......

We tried multiple combos and the Sena20s would not keep both phone and sm10 connected at the same time ( even when
we unhooked the radar and the GPS from the SM10).

According to the SM10 diagram and written instructions...the GPS and radar connected to it become 1 , the I-phone is the 2nd,
making it so the SHOULD work simultaniously ( the entire purpose of a SM10 transmitter).

OK....any helpful ideas would be appreciated and I'll pass them along :)

THANKS!

Dave

I have radar detector paired to iPhone, and iPhone to Sena. When I had gps I had iPhone and gps paired to Sena (smh10) but RD still paired to iPhone. You'll get your calls, music even google maps gps with radar thru iphone with no problems. RD I'm using is escort radar.

Thanks! Radar is non blue tooth, but hooked to sm10...making it pseudo blue tooth. GPS is, but also running thru sm10. Maybe try running GPS as stand alone unit. Doubt that helps ...now that I think it out...unless it is causing some signal interference. Will keep you posted.TKS again.

You mean SR10, there is no SM10 that I'm aware of.

When you say the sena dropped I phone, can you still receive a call on the I phone to the head set? If you can then it has not dropped the phone. I have my SMH10R set up the way you describe and it works just fine. What happens is you get the SR10 unless there is a phone call or you turn music on in the phone. If either of those 2 things happen then the phone takes over the head set. Once the call ends or you turn off the music it should go back to the SR10. You can not hear both the phone and the SR10 at the same time.

Joe,
The SM10 is a dual stream Bluetooth stereo transmitter that will broadcast to 2 headsets at the same time. It's good to broadcast XM to 2 headsets and also allows another Aux input for radar detector, which will override the stereo stream.

My bad, that's right I forgot about that one, but when he said 'radar detector' I just assumed SR10.

I use the SM10 I pair the phone to the SMH10 directly The SMH10 pairs with the SM10 and I have my Zumo 550 plugged in to the SM10 so I get phone XM and GPS and intercom. When I paired the phone to the GPS it dropped out the intercom.

" my bad" ? NO SIR.... taking the time to offer assistance ( even when not 100% perfect) is VERY appreciated. That goes for the other folks that have chimed in....THANKS !

I'm seeing things like " override " and "dropped out". These are the actions that concern me in the situation. Nowhere in the SM10 manual does it give any indication that certain items are incompatable and will stop the 3 items ( 2 into 1 via SM10)from simultaniously at least working in conjunction with each other ( when only Radar and GPS are paired via the SM10...both can be heard in the Sena 20s). I realize the transmission into the Sena20s can only "actively handle" 1 incoming signal at a time ( like it stopping the play of MP3 when accepting an inbound call), but why having the SM10 active would kill the bluetooth phone connection is puzzling.

I don't know if there is a way to connect the phone via a cord to the sm10. It would be interesting to see if phone and radar detector both connected into the SM10 causes the same issue.

Assuming the SMH10 is designed the same as Sena20s....looks like there is not a fix.

You should be able to pair your phone to the head set directly, and then pair the rest with the SM10 and I think that should fix your issue. I think its like Dave said if you are using your phone for music this set up wont work. Give Sena tech support a call they may be able to help ou out.

Following this post as I just acquired the SM10. I have the SMH10R and will pair it.
My plan is to plug GPS and Radar into SM10, Pair headset to Phone (android if that matters) and then to SM10.
I don't *need* GPS audio but would be nice to have. There have been times when the sun glare blocks my visual alert for other devices...
I get my music currently through my phone and I take calls too so I need to be BT pair to the phone vs pair the phone to the SM10.
I think my solution will be fine but I will be keeping tabs on this thread.

Steve I have a Zumo 550 you plug the Zumo into the SM10 and themn you get your audio to the head set from the sm10. I use the Zumo for SAT radio and MP3's and the phone pairs to the headset. I can listen to music frpom the phone but you have to restart it if it is interupted, no issues with SAT radio or MP3's it switches back no problem.

Yep, that was my thinking... I *should* be fine. I have lots of mods to do and once I get them done I'll be testing... but again I just wanted to tag this thread for any insights to potential problems I may have. I don't see any coming, but I also never saw that Trooper in Oregon...........

I understand there are two protocols for connecting Bluetooth to the headsets. Thanks to Sena for making it as confusing as possible. The 'phone paring' is HFC+A2DP ( only can connect to one of these devices) and 'second phone paring' is HFC (can connect two of these devices). If you try to connect both the iPhone and SM10 to 'phone paring' the headset will drop the first one connected when connecting to the second. You need to 'phone pair ' the iPhone and 'second phone pair' the SM-10. I think it'll work then.

Please post your results because ( depending on your headset) this is exactly what has been done....and failed. This is a case ( unlike when I hear it from my wife...) that I'd
love to be wrong !!!

THANKS and will have FJR friend give it a try. He's so heavily trying to diagnose the potential root cause that he plans on taking a "mental break" and leaving in the morning to take the next two days riding around Hwy28, Us129, BRP area. We're about 300 miles
away,so that should give him plenty of time to sort things out :)

Steve if I understand you right that won't work as you think. Here is the deal.
Phone to Head set- no 1 priority
SR 10 to headset- no 2 priority

You can not change this

Now what ever you have plugged into the SR 10 does not matte here. Neither does if you have 1 or 2 items plugged to it.

Assuming you have both items paired to head set, you will hear what is on the SR10 only when the phone is not active. By active I mean on a call or playing any sound ( music, streaming, MP3 it does not matter) When the phone goes active the head set switches from the SR 10 to the phone. When the phone goes non active you get the SR10 back.

So if you have say a radar plugged into the SR10 and are listening to music on your phone, or are on a call, you will not hear the radar via the SR10. The headset only passes 1 signal at a time and the phone is priority #1. As far as I know this can not be changed.
