I rode in my younger days and then drove cars for about 20 years, when I was living and working in the city I got really annoyed with the traffic and decided I should return to 2 wheels. I decided to play it safe and get something fairly tame - got me a Suzuki Burgman 400. Reading these stories I'm really glad I eased back into riding like I did. It wasn't until I moved out of the city and didn't need so much of a commuter vehicle that I changed to an RF900R and then the ST1300 - the change to the RF gave me the same weight but 4x the HP, took a little adjusting to get used to that.

It certainly takes a lot of care to start riding motorcycles after a couple of decades away from it.

Before I even bought my ST1300,after 25 years from my last ride, I took the Basic Rider Course. I was glad I did because it was fun and it made driving the new, heavy bike home (in the rain) a lot easier. I can see how things like this can happen, even if a rider is experienced.
