Some time back I ordered OEM front pads for my 07 St1300. The parts lookup on several sites all agreed they should be 06455-MCS-G02. With the caliper removed and pistons fully retracted the pads will fit in the caliper frame but they are so thick they would only fit over a 1.5mm rotor. Was there a mid year change on this bike to use a different pad? Is an 08 pad thinner? Heading out on a road trip next week so need to sort this out this week.

Have a read though this PDF File that John posted under the articles.
It may help you as you may have overlooked one small step or ordered a set of pads with one wrong number in the part number.

Thanks, the PN matches the Ron ayers number for item 3 on the left front caliper. It is possible I've overlooked something but ran out of time yesterday. I will look at it again this evening.

This is theoretical but, if you install the new pads, then slide some wood shims between the pads, then GENTLY squeeze the brake pedal, it should easily free a frozen caliper. Then clean the pins up etc.
Just theoretical.

+1 Your part number is correct.
Make sure the "H" pad retaining clip is seated where the pad tang seats and is not bent, as well as the anti-rattle clip at the top of the caliper. I just use a fat screw driver twisted between the sacrificial old pads to drive the pistons home after cleaning the pistons with brake fluid. A pc of thin plywood etc. added helps if the screwdriver blade is too small.

I think there is a picture on here somewhere showing the different tang on the 08 and up front pad.

OEM brake pads
03-07
Front 06455-MCS-G02
Rear 06435-MCS-G02

OEM 08-up
Front 06455-MCS-R01
Rear 06435-MCS-G02

EBC brake pads
03-07' FA261HH front
08-up' FA388HH front

REAR all years
FA261/2HH thicker pad similar to oem.
FA261HH alternate for the rear (same as 03-07' front part no.)

OK Mystery solved but first thank you all for the good information that helped me find the error . Apparently sometime in the past I ordered 2 sets of front and 2 sets of rear pads. as I tend to go thru rear pads a little faster. I had replaced the rear about a year ago so when I grabbed what I thought were the fronts I grabbed one front and one rear by mistake. After digging in my inventory I found the other set of fronts. The rear pads are a couple of millimeters thicker and have an anti noise shim as well while the fronts do not. Once I got all the pads at the correct caliper everything fit fine. Now for Bleeding. Wish me luck.
