My 1994 st1100 has a very sized preloa collar, I know the bike was sitting on a drive for 12mths before I got it and i`ve only just got it on the road(nearly 200 miles)
I don`t like wd40 for anything with rubber/silicone around, I have hit it with gt85 any ideas? bigger muscles? more leverage?heat?

My ,ain problem is thaty at 5ft8 i`m on tiptoes when reversing

Given the large contact area of that collar, plus the weather conditions there, you'll need to be patient and let that rust remover soak for a while...
Dunno if a lower pre-load will solve your height issue though...

Sorted, leaving it on the side stand, i put 2 large 10-15mm wide cable ties through the shock spring and tightend them down till the spring was slightly preloaded, then put it on the center stand and using a hammer and screwdriver(hrc) I had pre squirted with gt85 it moved, both feet now nearly flat on the floor

Leaves open if that setting (#1 or #2 ?) now matches the payload applied...
Too soft settings will impact handling in quick turns or passing manoeuvres, and also seems to be a factor in the causes of head-shake...
