Feel free to do that. there are a lot of turns by hand to get that job done.
The built-in wheel turner, a magnet and a rev counter app on my phone that uses the magnetic field sensor will knock most of that job out in no time flat. The trip odometer ticks in tenths, and the last tenth is less than 200 revolutions, which is pretty easy by hand.

I noticed cars coming up on my butt making me think I was going to slow. I was by 5mph. No biggie, keeps me out of traffic court more than I know.

Does anyone have a pic of the ploice speedo versus the stock unit? Curious, because mine is a civilian unit that was converted for police use, and them back.

The police speedo is marked in increments of 2 mph and the standard model is marked in increments of 5. Its metric counterpart is marked in 1 kph increments.
