Handlebar mounted GPS installation - 50 minutes

Actually 5 minutes to install it if you don't count the other 45 minutes retrieving a dropped screw. It ended up wedged right behind the radiator - had to pull off either fully, or partially, the shelter, gray panel, service cover, lower cowl, bottom cowl. So yeah.

Ouch. I usually drop screws on the floor...where they roll under the toolbox or heavily loaded shelving.

When will we learn to put a towel down to cover everything that the nuts, bolts, screws , etc. can fall in to. I have done similar things I drop a handlebar bolt on my ST1300 and found it 3000 miles later when I did a valve adjustment. I now put a piece of rubber mesh over the tank and other parts so that those things and tools don't damage the tank and stuff. I use small hand towels to cover the open areas where stuff can fall. Make it a habit.

I never worried about this on my vintage bikes stuff just hit the garage floor, then I knew where it was I just had to find it. Maybe. :)
