A question for motor officers: how common is a pullover in *front* of a driver? Does not look safe in cases of road rage

Hi,
I know we can't see what happened before the jeep was penned in and what he then did was totally unacceptable but looking at the video, the lane in front of him was empty. Why couldn't he use that lane to make progress providing it was done safely?

Imagine the driver was in a bit of trouble..breaking into a police escorted ride is ballsy, I see it all the time....jumping into funeral processions, shoving people out of the way during a Komen race, refusing to move for emergency vehicles. Individual short tempered, irrational, completely self centered....not just stupid.

YouTube shows this in the comments:

"Garrett was out riding with his buddies on a motorcycle ride for Veterans. They had arranged a Military Escort and North Texas Police Motorcade for Project 22 to ensure compliance. However, one man in his Jeep decided to attempt to fly past our convoy against instructions and to wait a few moments. Instead, he decided to mount the curb and try and pass everyone at high speed, endangering participants. He defied a request to wait, and so police caught up with him and cited him."

The guy with the camera had a little Road Rage himself and really wasn't dressed for it. What was he thinking shooting up along side the Jeep. At least he was smart enough to drop back when the Motor rolled up.

Most stops are from the rear for obvious reasons but that Motor may have wanted to stop the guy without it becoming a pursuit and other bikes getting mowed down. Kinda of a gutsy move that could have gone bad. But judgements are made on the fly all the time. He may have looked at the guy when he passed him and decided to take a chance.

The Jeepster is lucky he was only cited. I'd bet he could have gone to jail for that stunt.
