Sometimes they do get glazed but usually that means something else. How old are the pads and when was the last time the brake fluid was flushed

When you hit the brakes, you move the suspension. Put the bike on the center stand, idlethe engine and engage the transmission in first. Then clutch and hit the brake. This will isolate the brakes from the suspension. If the caliper is in the first stages of seizing on its mount, this might be the squeak (tho I admit I'm grasping at straws).

Pads are about 6 months old, I haven't had the fluid flushed. I bought the bike used and the fluid looks clear. Going on a 3000 mile road trip this summer so I'll have my mech change all the fluids, new tires new brakes new air filter ect.

Re: squeek in the rear end

I experienced this issue after accidentally installing a set of front pads on the rear. Went a thousand miles with no problem then the squeak started under light braking. I replaced with the correct rear pads an no issues in 4,000+ miles. I use only Honda OEM pads. My experience with disc brakes and aftermarket pads has been that they can sometimes lead to other issues including noise.

Interesting. Last spring my dealer installed new pads on the rear of my 1300 and they squeaked from mile one. As the year went on they seemed to do it less.... Not that I really use brakes that much!
Come spring I'll just start over with a new bike and see what happens when I need some new ones.

When my rear end squeaks, I just stop eating whatever caused it...:toot1::roll:
Hope you get to the bottom of the problem...

Re: squeek in the rear end

Yeah. - that would be the cheaper thing to do .... But I totaled it December 16th so I have to have a new bike!
That would definitely entice me into replacing the brakes the same way!

OEM pads? Are the anti-squeal backing plates installed? Sometimes the pads are difficult to install and folks remove the white plastic anti-squeal plates to get a little more clearance. It's not correct but it is done.
