39 hours nonstop it sounds like = 72 mph (for 39 hours!). Impressive. My best SS1000 was a 74 mph average and that involved a lot of over 85 mph riding to average that.

A 50CC is a coast to coast ride in 50 hours or less. Most do it between San Diego and Jacksonville. A 100CC is coat to coast and back in 100 hours or less. They're IBA rides, not related to engine displacement.

Amazing!! In September I am signed up for a 50CC Gold ride from NYC-SF <50hrs. To trim 12hrs off that in almost the same distance...WOW.

I hope you can start a thread on this with your preparation, route, etc, with a follow-up ride report... we'd like to hear how it goes for you.

Will do as it gets closer. Pretty much hop on I-80 and sit and twist for 2 days. Managing the rest will be key. Ideally I'd like to rattle off about 2000 miles, then see how the time looks and grab some sleep. But not much you can do if you get tired before that, have to stop and grab a power nap. Luckily I have a few friends doing this ride, so even if we aren't together we can call each other. Talking goes a long ways in keeping me awake.

Ken, I saw you on the list of Hard Way finishers. That is awesome. I look at the math and see that ride about 540 miles further than my JAX>SDO 50CC yet I rested 5 hours and still took 4 hours 19 minutes longer than Carl did. Isn't that essentially no rest?

I know I can't do it on no rest. I took a 3hr rest in Texas during my JAX-SD run, because I wanted a longer break at the turnaround point for my 100CCC. I'm starting to know my body better and the cycles of sleepiness I go thru on long rides. For this 50cc Hard Way ride I'm most worried after the sun goes down on the 2nd day. Hoping being that close to the end that the adrenaline will kick in as it often does for me.

Watched the promo video on the link and couldn't help but chuckle at the very end when he says what alot of other BMW riders have said......"the bike just died"....classic.
