So I'm working on getting this 2000 ST1100 ready for spring. PO had it sitting outdoors for the last 2 years. Obviously the carbs need cleaned, which leads me to my question. While I'm in there, I plan on replacing maintenance items (carb boots, o-rings, etc.) and checking the valves. I was looking at this : http://www.ebay.com/itm/like/161835071188?ul_noapp=true&ul_ref=http%3A%2F%2Frover.ebay.com%2Frover%2F1%2F711-117182-37290-0%2F2%3Fmtid%3D1588%26kwid%3D1%26crlp%3D53601919689_324272%26itemid%3D161835071188%26targetid%3D154774714809%26rpc%3D0.12%26rpc_upld_id%3D63004%26device%3Dm%26mpre%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Fwww.ebay.com%252Fulk%252Fitm%252Flike%252F161835071188%253Flpid%253D82%2526chn%253Dps%26adtype%3Dpla%26googleloc%3D200609%26poi%3D9023835%26campaignid%3D239125209%26adgroupid%3D14978428809%26rlsatarget%3Dpla-154774714809%26gclid%3DCKr9wtuj4soCFRCGaQodjxsOag%26srcrot%3D711-117182-37290-0%26rvr_id%3D977851197023&chn=ps&lpid=82 Has anyone bought a kit like this and had good luck with it, or do you 'have' to go to the dealer for all that? Anybody know any place else to get this stuff? My internet searches haven't yielded a whole lot of hits.

thanks!

Ask the seller if the kit has molded hoses like the original or are they mostly straight cut. Also find out if there are four or six pieces in the kit. There are two hoses from the radiator, two from the cylinders to the filler neck/thermostat housing, a bypass hose from the metal pipe at the left front of the engine to the thermostat housing and a long hose from the filler neck to the overflow bottle. You may also need spigots from the cylinder heads if they are corroded as bad as the ones I just changed today along with the o rings for them. There is a seal and an O ring you may want to change at the adapter where the metal pipe slides into. Are you sticking with the thermostat and radiator cap you currently have? Let me know what the condition is of the o rings under the spigots. The ones I found didn't even resemble rubber anymore.

No, not keeping the old stuff. The thermostat and cap are getting changed out along with any o-rings and seals that are in the vicinity. Prolly won't dig into it for a week or two until I get all the replaceables gathered up and/or identified...

That seems like a great price for all those hoses and clamps... cost much more from mother Honda! Could be original stuff... Honda doesn't make everything, they buy from suppliers like most manufactures. If you get the kit, let us know how it worked out! Good luck with it!

I think for all the work it is to get to the hoses and o-rings under the carbs, I'd go OEM. The difference in price wouldn't be worth it. I might take a chance on the radiator hoses and the ones that are easy to get to.

The price of that eBay kit is tempting, but one needs to see it first to check a) it holds all parts and pieces required and far more important b) they all come correctly shaped...
Not worth endless the anger and frustration if radii and lengths don't match, hoses end up kinked, etc...
Especially the two thick stubs on the radiator, the one from thermostat housing and the return line on the bottom, should be made really precise, or they get a PITA to install...

Yea, I've got the same thoughts about it today, when I got the carbs pulled off. I did ask the seller these same questions, but of course no response. Oh, in case anyone uses motorcyclesuperstore.com, they sell factory parts now. Usually get tires from them....

I ended up getting all the factory hoses and o-rings through motorcycle superstore's oem parts link. Wasn't too bad, really..$106 for all that PLUS the factory carb boots...if only those dang pilot Jets would show up.........

I'd call that cheap insurance. It might be different if you could get a hands-on of the eBay kit first. But I would have gone OEM as well. Given what's not known about the eBay kit yours is money well spent.
