So I was setting up to put my new Delkevic pipes on....and was attempting to put the bike on the center stand. I dropped it (on the right side) in the garage. UGH!!! I am surprised I was able to pick that 631lb bastage back up!! Took everything I had. Luckily there was no damage to the bike. WHEW!!!

Glad no harm done - plus they are 731 lbs ready to ride. You the man!

Sorry to hear you couldn't keep it up, but you have joined many on this forum...except me, in over 270,000 miles on five ST1300s, I have yet to drop one. ;)

LOL...yeah.....the bad part is...I'm nursing what I believe is a botched hernia surgery from 2009. LOL. I read the 2004s were only 631lbs though? Mine is not an ABS either. I've dropped my fair share of bikes...but to be fair...I've always been a dirt bike/dual sport guy until I picked up the ST. LOL.

I dropped mine 2 weeks after getting it....when I was at walking pace! Took me what seemed like an hour to pick that b*tch up, I was sweating so much I had to take half of my gear off. Over the last 30 years of riding I've dropped about 50% of my bikes, all at slow or stationary, dropped an old BMW on myself once, pinned me against the garage wall :

If it makes you feel better, my son dropped "his" '05 ST1300 after buying it from me. I rode it for 174.3K miles and the only time it was on the ground was when someone knocked me off at 25mph. (Doesn't count as a drop..;)

My '04#1 & I found ourselves down during training, but again it wasn't a drop, but a crash...doing about 25 when the front wheel slid out from under me.

Other then those two times, none of my ST1300s have seen the ground when I was riding them. But since I bought both '04 & the 10 pre-crashed (you know, like pre-washed), I figured that saved me the trouble of having to drop/crash them myself! :rofl1:

I thought you had pranged yours several times but I guess those aren't drops by definition.

I've dropped mine a bunch of times practicing slow speed work. No other way to learn.

So have any of your ST's had rear tip over bars on them ?? Just curious,, Cat'
I have a set, right now, they aren't mounted, I just pulled them off the '04#1. I may put them on my 2010 for commuting.

They actually saved me twice, once when a kid moved to the left for me to pass (lane splitting) and when I was passing him he decided to go and hit the left bar which pushed me into the side of a pickup truck. That knocked the mirror cover off, but the mirror hit where the rubber air deflector sits. I saw that his car had a five foot long black mark from the bar down his side. He took off before I had a chance to check out my damage, but I couldn't find any to the bike.

The other time when I went down during training, the tipover bar bent back, but saved the saddlebag and exhaust from any damage. I was able to straighten the bent tipover bar with a six foot long digger bar. :D
