Well, I have been searching for awhile for a replacement machine. Craigslist is a dangerous place to lurk daily. I found a 2014 Super Tenere with alot of extras for sale and I kinda knew I was going to buy the damn thing. To a look last weekend and it was a done deal.
The skinny on the bike:
2014 Super Tenere non-es with 4000 miles
Yamaha side cases
Alt Rider crash bars and skid plate
Parabellum Touring screen
Seat Concepts seat
K60 tires mounted / Original tires as spares
2 yrs 4 months left on YES warranty
Rox Risers and extend brake lines (not installed yet)
Yamaha Heated Grips (not installed yet)

My new toy

Nice choice! The Tenere was my first thought when I saw your thread title. Probably because it was high on my list when I wrecked my ST11 a few months ago. Congrats!

Nice bike for lots and lots of NM. We need to pack the bikes up and go camp somewhere this summer!

Congrats! Reports are now coming in from multiple riders with 100,000+ miles on their Teneres with few if any problems. Waiting for my Russell Day Long seat to come next month after 15,000 easy miles in the last two years on mine.

;-)

Thanks everyone for the Congratulations.
I find this machine beats the 1100 in every category except engine smoothness. Not sure what the future is for the old 1100. Right now just trying to get her back on the road.

Great looking bike! BTW, I suspected you lived in Albooqwerky as soon as I saw the license plate on the bike in your garage and the grass next to your driveway :)

How would you rate it in terms of wind protection compared to the ST1100?

I went from an ST1100 to a Tenere. I added the Yamaha side wind deflectors and a Parabellum windshield that is wider and taller than stock. Wind protection is every bit as good now.

Sweet bike! The engine is Vibey-er than the ST1100, I rode a rented one 250 miles in Cali last year. But I think a lot of that vibration came from the extremely knobby tires that were on it at the time....

Happy riding! :)
