Keep watching all these videos I thought I would post a ride from last summer in Colorado following Bigmac96 (Mark) and Old Guy (Bob) on the Million Dollar highway.

The last time I rode the Million Dollar Highway was over 30 year ago. I do not remember the rock slide tunnels. No guards rails. You must keep your eyes on the road. A person could miss most of the scenery. I noticed you did stay just right of the center line. Great video, it makes me want to ride it on two wheels.

Thanks for looking at the video and the comments. Cherie asked me if I thought it looked scarier on video than real life and I think Paul is right you are concentrating on the road instead of the edge while riding, it couldn't have bothered Cherie at the time either because she was busy on the back with her camera.

Thanks again

I thought it costs up to a million dollars a mile to build a road - so this must have cost way more that 1 mil - unless it dates back to Roman times when labor was cheap..... Though in some areas, they did not have to haul away the rock, just push it over the edge and wait a feew minutes for it to hit bottom.

Great memories of riding this hiway last summer 3 or 4 times on my Vfr at a slightly quicker pace ,a pant load of fun . What a great area to ride motorcycles in with lots of great roads and scenery .

I think I heard the Million Dollar Road name came not from the cost but from what is in the rocks. The real thing "Gold".

There's no official reference, ore, cost or views... doesn't matter, it should be on your bucket list.

That looks pretty scary in the video. Does it look like that in real life? If it does, I'm not sure I could do it... not southbound anyway.

Yeah... pretty much...Here's a video I took, not the best quality.

Around 3:28 is where we begin 550 I think, this was back in 2010...

Joe, where was the above the tree line road at the beginning?
The very beginning was just north of Amarillo in Fritch Texas, here's the complete ride report if that helps
