Homemade heater grips?

I just ran across this handy item online and it got me wondering about making heated grips/grip covers for mine for next year.

Anyone ever try something like this?

Seems legit...wonder if a guy could rig up a controller (other than an on/off switch)....

That gadget takes 5 volts dc. Your bike runs on 12 v. Not sure how you would decrease it (maybe w/ a resistor?).

A USB converter would work for converting the current.....it DOES reach 149* F, though..might require a controller.

They also sell devices to make a controller for it, and definitely would need to step down the voltage - not sure if I'm going to tackle it just yet, but it's an interesting option imho.

The big issue would be the longevity after installation under the grips. The left side might be fine, but I would wonder how the wire would hold up on the throttle side.
