Well it wouldn't be just the BT-045 profile, I have tried other fronts and they all make the CT on the back feel more rounded.

Probbaly that it has just a slightly larger diameter, just like the CT on the back. So it brings the ST back to neutral.
A larger diameter on the front usually has the opposite effect..... making the front end higher should make it handle less sporty. But who knows, you may be right.

I'll say it's that were putting a 130 on a rim designed for a 120 so it's more rounded which speeds up steering.

I have about 2000 miles on the double dark on the FJR and it works great. So much better than just running a car tire on the rear.
No clearance issues at all Tim? Funny story, met a friend of mine for lunch last week. He recently completed a 48/10 ride on a K1600GT and I wanted to hear about it. Anyway, he had mounted a GYTT on the rear several months earlier and loved it. He decided he wanted to go DD, and had to go up a size for the front tire. It actually wore a hole thru the middle of his fender. Clearance was fine in the front and rear of the fender where you could see and feel with your fingers. But up top, not enough room...ouch!!!

I tried a Pirelli Demon tire here.

Not only do you need clearance for the tire with the fender, you need clearance for all the little nubs on the tire. They can slice right through too that fender too...

No problems with clearance on mine. Probably another couple thousand on it. I did have a slow air leak. Some bafoon didn't tighten the valve core quite enough. I hate it when I'm said bafoon.

Can I go dark on only the front? Getting ready to change out in the next few weeks. What make/size? Batlax rear is still 70 - 75%.

FWIW, I run a rear tire (BT45H) on the front of my '01 ST1100 ABS which I think has the same size tire as the ST1300 front. My rear tire is a Commander II mc tire. Too much hassle for me to go dark on the rear of an ST1100 when I get 20k out of the Commander II.

Are you guys mounting the front tire backwards? I read where someone was doing this? They said it helped with the cupping.
Tommy,
I run the BT45 on both the ST1300 and the Wing and run them in normal direction. I've put 7000 miles on the Wing with no sign of cupping, running 41 PSI.

I have tried it both ways---running the BT45 backwards was certainly an improvement in handling and wear. I dont know why but it did make a definite difference for me.
