Until I get a bike with a real cruise control the GoCruise works great for me. What I like about the GC over other friction locks like the Throttlemeister on my ST is that the GC sets a "floor speed" instead of "locked to one speed". In hilly country after setting it I just roll on a tiny bit going up hills and let the bike run downhill where it eventually settles back to the floor speed. I've used it on three bikes now, thousands of miles, crossed the continent twice, simple and works a treat. I bought a spare and never used it yet.

I'd like to know if Midwest members are interested in having an electronic cruise control installation clinic or tech event. The Rostra kit is about 200 (which is not that much). The installation is the somewhat tricky part. There are members in the Midwest who have done this and if they do a demonstration, we could all share / pass along the info to others. This is a great bike to have a cc on. Thoughts ???

I got mine in hand and it appears you just roll the throttle forward against the friction. But somebody else that has used one on the road should jump in. ;-)
Hey Phil. For your ST1100, did you get the 7/8" or 1" Go Cruise? Plastic or metal?

This is exactly right. You just roll the throttle off to release it.

Paul - I actually got it for when I rent ST1300s since all my ST1100s have MCCruises. I got the metal one - Go Cruise Universal/Black Item# GC-A1bk directly from 2wheelride, inc. I'll use it as a backup if my MCCruise fails. This size seems to work well on my ST1100s (put it on one just to see) but I have not road tested it yet. It's a pretty nicely machined part and I figure the $10 extra or so for the metal versus the plastic was well worth it.

Like dd said: just roll the throttle off.

The Omni-Cruise is identical in function. Additionally it has a tang on the back that lets you operate it with your thumb.

In either case rolling off the throttle effectively disengages the throttle locks. The O-C video shows rolling off the throttle and engaging the brake as two separate motions. It's always been one motion for me.

I put the Rostra unit on my 1300 when I had it. It is not flat where I ride and a throttle lock/O ring were more of a pain. The Rostra and Audiovox are not plug and play, but work just like the one in your car when you get it put in. Set it and it keeps the same speed without any adjustments.
How are the ST1300 instalation instructions for the Rostra? Anyone know if they are posted anywhere on the site?

I haven't put one on my 1100 yet, but I did on my '96 Nighthawk 750. I can certainly help with wiring.
