Need some help,

Just noticed my brake lite does not come on when I squeeze the front lever (ST1300-2006). Is there an adjustment or does the switch need to be replaced. Is there an adj. procedure in owners or shop manual?

Thanks,

No adjustment. The connectors on the perch mounted switch may have come loose or the switch is done.

If you have any contact cleaner you can try giving it a shot or two. Once cleaned up it may begin working again. Once you have it working it will need to have some lube applied. Good Luck!

With the ignition off, actuate the front brake lever; you should hear a slight click when actuated. With the ignition on, actuate the front brake lever; you should hear a relay on the left side of the bike clicking.

Good luck.

We are all assuming that your brake light bulbs are good......though it is unlikely that both burned out at once.

Yep. Brake light works with back brake, not with front brake. Same bulb(s) for both front a back.

Thanks again - ordered the switch (be here in two days). I think I could of tried switching the ST1300 switch with the NT700 switch, they look the same. I will ask Wednesday if they are the same part # when I pick up the ST switch.

Did not ever hear a left side click, but when the brake lever bumps the new switch there is a click (closing the circuit) and with the ignition on the brake lite comes on. Amazing this 'electric stuff!

This absolutely worked for my 2004 ST1300 ABS. I’m back on the road... Thank you!

I found that if you pop out the black rubber triangle from the footrest mount, you can get enough access to the brake light switch to make adjustments so it works again after adjusting the pedal height downwards.
