I have used this battery for at least 10 years with great results, but I change to a new one every three years. They are the best AGM I have found for a ST1300.

However, I am going on a trip next week and am taking a leap of faith with a lithium battery since my current PowerSonic AGM is now three years old, but working fine.

This battery appears the be identical to the Scorpoin "Stinger". I have a Stinger in my Ducati, and it works great. Let's see how well this one works in my ST.

I've gotten a couple of the BikeMaster AGM batteries on my bikes, I also have a Shoria that sat too long and ran completely down. I put it on the charger (one made for it) and brought it back to life. I have it on my commuter bike, so it gets ran 5 days out of each week, so far so good. Although I rode that bike up to the Old Gold Country a couple of weeks ago, not thinking of the battery and the temp got down to 39F and it had a bit of time starting, but it did. Since being back, no issues. We'll see how long it will last.

I have the Skyrich YTZ14S replacement battery in my NT700. This is the same battery which is now OEM in new Ducatis.

I am, in general, very pleased with it. But there are a couple of things you need to think about:

  1. Charging Voltage mustn't exceed 15v and only use a battery charger suitable for Lithium batteries.
  2. In cold weather, below 30F, turn on the ignition and the lights, wait 20-30 seconds then hit the starter.
Yours might be different.

I ordered this newfangled lithium battery on Amazon this past Saturday, and it arrived yesterday.

It has a label on it that says 300 CCAs. It also has plastic spacers provided that snap onto the bottom of the battery, thereby making it the same height as the stock AGM. The length and width are exactly the same as stock. So, once those spacers are attached, it is a drop in replacement. No foam spacers needed! The terminal bolts provided are high quality and regular size, M5 I think, unlike the tiny bolts that came with the Scorpion Stinger on my Ducati.
Once I had everything cleaned up and hooked up, I hit the starter. My ST has never turned over like that! I always look at new battery purchases with a certain amount of uncertainty, but so far, I am pleased with this purchase.

With a LiFe battery if its cold you have to turn the bike on and let it sit for 30-40 cseconds with the key on its counter intuitive with the ST but with this battery it has to warm up then it will crank like normal. I am on my second Shorai this one has 285CCA.

I have run a Shorai for a number of years on my '91 ST1100. Great product. You do have to leave the ignition switch on for 20 seconds or so before thumbing the starter switch in cold weather. Should be clearly stated in the documentation that comes with it.

Also running a Shorai for several years now. Perfect battery, (I'm not kidding). Since I have a digital auto stereo on the old girl I have to keep a tender I built plugged in if it sits for more than a couple of weeks. In the fall just fully charge it, take it out, sit it on a shelf and forget about it until spring. I'm so pleased with Shorai I'll never go back to lead acid again. Can't vouch for the other, newer battery makers.

Cold weather can present a starting problem but like everyone else who has one says, just do the counter-intuitive thing and let it sit for 20 seconds or so with the lights on before starting. It works. I can easily start my /99 at -10C.

...And no, I don't ride it at that temp, there's usually way to much snow around here then!
