Well, I just bought a 2002 ST1100, my 29th bike  (34219 miles, Salvage title, has been down on the right side - ouch!, but for $1700... :D)

The tires right now are the Bridgestone G547 front (110/80V-18) and G548 rear (160/70-17). The rear tire has 5/32 left (~50%), the front is at 2/32 left (what tread? :().

The question is - what tire for the front?? I've read of the T30 EVO for the front, but it looks that the only size the GT comes in is 120/70ZR-18. Will this fit on the front, or should I just run the 110/80ZR-18 in non-GT? Or should I just run another G547 in the stock size?

This would be easier if I had the ABS models 3.5" wide front rim, but all I have is the 3". Tire availability seems limited with the narrow front rim, and I'm worried that Bridgestone may do away with the Exedras in the future. That's why I would like to try the T30's.

Also, I ride more on the tour side than the sport side. With the 1997 ST1100A I had, I normally got two rears worn for every one front (BT020). I doubt I ride faster now ;) (I found the '07 ST1300A I had to be too far on the sport side for me, for instance!)

Suggestions please!! :bow1: Oh, and suggestions for places to buy tires and/or get them changed in the Sacramento, CA area would be nice too!

You will be fine with T30, PRs, Angels, whatever, preferably in the "heavyweight" version. Just make sure both axles are either radial or bias, don't mix the types.

On both my '01 ABS and '01 non-ABS, I run a Bridgestone 110/80-18 BT45 rear tire on the front. I think I got it from Dennis Kirk for $76. This rear tire fits on the front rim and has much more tread than a front version... great mileage. Others do this as well. My current rear BT45 on the front has over 7k miles and still looks pretty new.

FWIW, I run a 160/70-17 Michelin Commander II on the rear. I got over 20k miles on my last Commander II.

:plus1: paulcb's advice. The tread (9/32-inch) can't be beat. Longevity is assured. I mounted my BT45 backwards. It handles great.

I currently have 16K miles on the BT-45 mounted on the front of my ST1100 and it still has a lot of mileage left.

I am running and exedra max 130/70 zr18 on a 97st non abs. It has over 7k and still looks great. Had a b/s t30 on the rear that wore out in 7k and now installed a exedra 850 190/60 hr17. Much larger with a tight fit. Hopping to get a little better wear and mpgs..

The G547/G548 Exedra OEM tires were my favorite on my ST1100. After many years of experimentation, I've resigned myself to sticking with OEM sizes. Every time I've tried a non-OEM size I've regretted the effect on handling. The G547/G548 Exedras are designed specifically for the ST1100.

Here's another vote for the OEM spec'd Exedras, G547/G548. They have a Honda part number and can be ordered through your local dealer. BTDT x ~21? Never more than a year old.

Confidence-inspiring neutral handling, throughout the life of the tire. FWIW, I'm not a Ricky Racer knee-dragger. I average around 20K per front and 10K per rear.
