I use Avon Storm tyres front and rear on my '96 ST1100. I am very surprised that the rear lasts about 3000 miles at best, which at ?130 a pop is rather less than I would have expected. I really, really don't ride fast or hard, riding on a good mix of dual and single carriageways at the legal speed limit. What do others use? Any recommendations?

On my ST1100A, I run a Michelin Commander II on the rear. Got just over 20k miles out of my last one. I run a Bridgestone BT-45 rear tire on the front. It now has 4600 miles and still looks new.

I think you might like the feeling of acceleration ;) From my experience acceleration and to a lesser extent braking will affect the life of the rear tire, also the road surface varies from place to place and then there is high temperature and heavy loads. I probably put half the miles on two up and loaded and average about 13,000 km (8,000 miles) with the rear tire.

It is what it is...my experiences are that the more fun you have the less tire mileage you get...have fun, ride safe.......ff
