I have a 2005 ST1300 and was thinking about picking up a spare rear shock so I could have it rebuilt by Racetech. I saw one recently for a 2012 Police bike. The part numbers are different (52400-MCS-305 for non police, 52400-MCS-A31 for police). My guess is that the police unit is more heavy duty. Any reason not to pick up a used police unit to either rebuild and use, or use as a temporary backup while I have mine rebuilt?

Mine original ST1300 rear shock wore out at around 130,000? miles. I picked up a used police rear with unknown miles and I can't really say it feels any different in any way at all.

Ha! You snagged that from ebay for $40 (plus shipping)! Good job!

Cop Shock on ebay

I've been watching that thinking someone needs to get it! Glad you did before I was tempted! Although I already have one police shock with less than 500 miles and a 2006 with around 12,000 mies on it, so I really didn't need another one, but that was a GOOD Price!
