Looks like some kind of replaceable bushing, made to be changed after it wears out.
Never had mine apart, so haven't looked in there.
What did U see when you pulled it off ??

It connects ( ? ) the left front brake caliper fluid ( to or from ? ) the Secondary Master Cylinder fluid .

There is a small drilled hole about half-way up the SMC bore ( maybe between the two piston seals )
that connect to the black ( valve ? ) thing-a-ma-jig on the SMC.

I'm not sure how you would test it ... it's not mentioned in the Service Manual.

Maybe it "weeps" some DOT4 into the SMC to lubricate the top of the piston seal.

Hopefully, someone knows .......

You need to talk to Larry (Igofar), and he'll explain it all to you!

I did talk with Larry yesterday.

He explained that the black device is a one-way valve.

I hope he will post more details about how the Secondary Master Cylinder's TWO chambers and one-way valves work for the linked braking.
